"Why I Am No Longer a ‘Brain-Dead Liberal’"

This is David Mamet's famous piece from nearly 9.5 years ago. I ran across it again and was struck again by how good it is. If only more Liberals would think like this. . . .

I don't think I've seen any of Mr. Mamet's plays--what's he's most famous for--but I have seen a few of the movies he's written, and I've enjoyed them all: The Verdict, Hoffa, Ronin, State and Main, and the terrific Wag the Dog.

"Are You Sure You Want Single Payer?"

This is from The Atlantic, a typically Liberal publication.

Laszewski compares trying to rein in health-care costs by dramatically cutting payment rates to seeing a truck going 75 miles an hour suddenly slam on the brakes. The first 10 to 20 years after single payer, he predicts, “would be ugly as hell.” Hospitals would shut down, and waits for major procedures would extend from a few weeks to several months.

Related: "Single-payer would be a nightmare for Americans".

Some much better ideas: "Easy healthcare fixes".
