For forecasting practioners and researchers

In a move apparently designed to irritate our country's egalitarians, "attorney-investor" Leonard M. Ross has just put William Randolph Hearst's former Beverly Hills estate on the market.

Asking price: $165,000,000.

(The article also states that Hearst bought the estate in 1947 for about $120,000. Just for kicks, I knocked 20% off the asking price and computed the compound annual growth rate of Mr. Hearst's purchase amount. Answer: about 12.4%/year. How did the S&P 500 Index do--with full dividend reinvestment--over the same time? Answer: about 11.93%/year.)
