The only party motivated by so-called motivational posters is the one who puts them up or his boss. To the rest of us, they're just advertisements. The lawsuit-repellent department of my company put some posters on the walls of our office. One was an appeal to racial tolerance. It showed autumn leaves on a tree and asked, "Wouldn't life be dull if we were all the same color?" I wondered whether I was the only one who noticed that when the leaves on the tree are all different colors instead of all green, they are dying. It wouldn't matter if I were, since no one takes an advertisement seriously except the advertiser.
