"People Are Building Dome Houses To Guard Against Extreme Storms"

Many people don't like the way they look but there's this:

The domes' balanced shape is self-supporting and strong enough to withstand the force of an EF5 tornado, a monster hurricane or a powerful earthquake. Dome buildings made of concrete can deflect falling buildings and flying debris, even airborne trees and cars. Plus, the roof won't blow off.

There used to be, probably still is, a firm in Florida that sold "pre-fab" concrete dome homes. Pretty much guaranteed that anything inside it will withstand even the strongest hurricane making a direct hit. I don't like the ugly multi-colored one that is linked to, but in reality dome homes can be quite attractive. Functionally inside, they're not really that different from the more usual housed except for some unusually shaped rooms [something I like].
