My dad was a BAR man in Carlson's Raiders in WWII. He qualified with open iron sights at 700 yards on a 12-inch bullseye. Given he made the entire Long Patrol on Guadacanal. I'll bet he could have done this, too. :) One of the two best shots I've known personally.

WWII or today, Marine specialists are the very best of an excellent group.
