I could be wrong, but the title should read "How not to write badly" Was the author being clever with the title?

I constantly struggle to get my students to accept the fact that better writing skills make them more employable.
OTOH, most of the students who come to me with good writing skills frequently express appreciation for trying to help them become better writers.

Similar advice is offered by Greg Mankiw based on his time at the Council of Economic Advisers
A difference between the two lists is that Yagoda also specifically warns writers against awful styles found in business-speak and bad journalistic writing (mainly wordiness and hyperbole).
