"Dying Is Easy"

". . . it seems to me that comedy is where American television has truly excelled in recent decades."

Yup.

(For those who don't know what the title refers to: somebody in the theater--who said it first is disputed--said, "Dying is easy. Comedy is hard.")

The WGA's list should've included Scrubs. I'm not much of a tv-comedy viewer, but praise from a certain former blogger, whom I won't name but whose initials are Katie Newmark, persuaded me to give the show a serious look. It's my favorite sitcom ever; it balances whimsy and pathos to a degree, and with a skill, I haven't seen elsewhere. But again, I don't watch much tv comedy.
