"Anti-Judaism: The Western Tradition"
Sounds like an very interesting book, one I should read.
But it would be way too discouraging.

If you want an analytical approach to European anti-Semitism, you should read this:

In my opinion, you needn't. All intelligent Jews (yes, there are a few morons among us) know intuitively, if not from first hand experience, what Jew-hatred is all about. It is the melding of the two despicable human traits -- envy and the unwillingness to accept personal accountability.
I am sure Nirenberg’s new book is a learned and thorough exposition of the subject matter. I am also sure that Jews will not benefit from reading it, and Jew-haters will condemn it (without reading it, of course).

Do you think anti-Semitism is at the heart of Western Culture? Seems a stretch. It's good to remember that back in the days before God was Dead to intellectuals (say, pre-1800), most people were pretty sure that those outside their faith were godless heathens, and it wasn't pointed only at Jews (note, Protestants and Catholics).
