"5 Scenes from a Sequestered America"

Nick Gillespie describes the terrible, terrible devastation being wrought by the sequester.

Two fun questions: did you know that the White House employs not one, not two, but three calligraphers? Did you know that "the various branches of the military maintains about 148 bands with a combined annual budget of 'about $388 million a year'"?

The amount of sheer waste in the US government boggles the mind. Most people are ignorant to it. When I was in college many years ago I worked in the Government documents dept of the library. It was an eye opening experience and contributed to me becoming a libertarian.

There were documents detailing how the government bought tons of sorghum from farmers then destroyed it. And how they hired people at high five figure salaries (this was the 1970's) to watch the clouds over Kansas and Nebraska and count them,(I am not making this up).
