I love Joe Posnanski, but he's dead wrong here.
IMHO, the solution is:
1. shorten the existing season by one or two games and eliminate conference championship games
2. take 32 of the existing bowls,
take the top 64 teams (selected and seeded) and play them off using the bowl games. Even the first round bowls (New Mexico, Beef O' Brady, Belk, et al.) would see their attendance and viewership skyrocket
3. rotate the championship game among the top bowl games.
The bowls, TV and the schools would make bushels of $$, and everybody's happier than a Ted Lewis audience.
