I feel sorry for the writer, if he doesn't like his family. While I have a few members of my very extended family that I'd rather not spend much time with, it's more than made up for by all those I do enjoy [including pretty much all of the 'kids' {who now span and crossover about 3 generations}]. I only get to see them a couple of times a year [even my own kids and grandkids] and I really wish it could be more often.
And I have friends from HS who "got pregnant" when she was 15 and he was 17 and back then that meant you got married. They've now been married for 43 years and have a wonderful family,which now includes great-grandchildren.
