An ethical conundrum

Newsweek article argues that antidepressants don't work any better than placebos. But they do work--they have a significant effect apparently because people believe they'll work.

Do you tell them this?

(In my opinion, yes. Honesty is usually the best policy. And in this case, also cheaper.)

You know what I have always found to be the best antidepressant? A big juicy steak. I am not kidding, if you are feeling real down, depressed, just can't take it. You go to your favorite chop house and dig into a big prime rib.

Suddenly all your problems seem not to be so acute.
