Environmentalists when they wanna be
Ron Bailey asks, "Why do environmentalists reject a good bet for renewable energy?”
Glenn Reynolds observes, "If you’re going to tell me that carbon dioxide is an unparalleled catastrophe for this planet, you’ve got to be willing to demonstrate your sincerity by, you know, endorsing other forms of energy. Otherwise, I’m inclined to think you’re a lying opportunist or something."

I believe I have made this exact same argument before maybe even on this website. This refusal by people who say they think the world is in danger to endorse nuclear power is one of the prime reasons I thought it was a hoax even before those emails came out.

I think these folks should be identified and then forced to forgo the use of [even indirectly] any electricity that comes from coal, natural gas, or nuclear power. Maybe we should just round them all up and put them on a no-non-green power reservation and let them grow their own food [oops, not much fertilizer without power], make their own clothes [oops, not much cloth without power] and process their own water and sewage [well, I guess you don't need electricity for this -- Hope they get used to purifying water the really slow way and using an unlighted outhouse {although they could use that for a source of fertilizer}].
You know, I see the potential for a real "reality show" here. Make them live the lifestyle the average person would have to live without any electricity created using coal, nuclear, or natural gas and without any product made using such power. We could video it and show it to everyone.
[I'm kind of assuming that quickly the show would revolve around screaming, bitch-slapping fights among dirty, hungry, disgruntled morons. Perhaps we could put Al Gore in with them to lead them.]
