Vice President Biden wants you to know . . .

. . . that he's really, really smart. A laugh-out-loud takedown of Mr. Biden's tacit claim. It should be noted, though, that his is a reasonably common condition. Many of our elected officials think they are really, really smart.

A big problem for our country is that they are often wrong.

The bigger problem is that we have a electorate that elects people like Joe Biden.

Joe Biden is a wowser. You don't hear that term anymore and I forget where it originated.

People who say they're smart never are.

Politicians don't have to be smart, they just have to be electable. The last really smart Senator that I am aware of was Daniel Patrick Moynihan.

I'd just love to get hold of the ACTs or SATs or whatever of everyone in the Senate. I'll bet 90% of them are within one standard deviation of the mean.

And, truth to tell, it wouldn't be so bad to elect people of average intelligence if they just didn't seem to think that getting elected made the Einsteins.

I think the average person has pretty good instincts most of the time. Going to Congress seems to inflate their egos in very non-useful ways.

J-O-B-S....see, it's a 4 letter word, Joe!
