Think you're a big shot?
Think your life has Large Meaning? Using data gathered by the Wide Field Camera aboard the Hubble Space Telescope, astronomers now estimate that the observable universe contains "about 100 billion galaxies".
We're, all of us, pretty small.

I've used a picture of the Hubble Deep Space Field as my desktop background for a couple of years now. It reminds me that I'm not as important as I think I am (or think I should be).

But what if we are the only intelligent life in the entire vast universe? Then that would make us pretty friggin important wouldn't it? Since there is no evidence either way, I will continue to think of myself as pretty damn important.
