Government at work

These two links will give you a mini-course on public choice.

If you didn't see it in Thursday's Wall Street Journal, "John Murtha's Airport for No One" would be funny if it weren't so sad and outrageous.

This, too: "Feds Didn't Clear Brush in LA Wildfire Areas Because of Liberal Pressure".

I've heard about situations like this before. In one case, the community was told by the crazy California environmentalist that they couldn't cut back their trees because of some type of bird that was living there. One guy said "screw that" and did it anyways.

The wildfires came and everyone's houses burnt down....except for the guy that cut back his trees in order to save his home. Subsequently, the government took action (and i'm not sure if he got fined, jailed, or what).

What is the deal with liberals and property rights? There are too many cases where they choose the protection of some species of animal or insect over the value of human freedom and well-being.

Drives me insane.
