Has anyone successfully applied for an NSF grant to study this phenomenon?

I'm surprised they didn't mention this post from a few weeks ago. The author argues that the massive loss in men in WW2 allowed the remaining men to be picky, so only the hottest women had children. That is why old russian women were fugly but now they are all super hot.
