Highest paying Google AdSense terms.

I guess you'll be seeing more posts on this blog about mortgages, mortgage financing, and refinancing. :-)

Much more interesting is the insight it gives you into Google’s margins.

I’ve got an old post on "mesothelioma", deliberately set up to make sure that the google ads will indeed be those very high cost words. When this list came out a few days ago I linked both to the list and to my old post.

A couple of readers were kind enough to go to the old post and hit a few of the ads. No, I didn’t tell them too but they (wrote later to me saying) thought it would take them 15 seconds to make me $50 or so.

Un unh. People might be paying $40 for the keyword but the publishers aren’t getting anything like that. Difficult to know what you’re allowed to say about numbers with Adsense but let’s say payout is much less than 5% of those numbers.

Buy Google being the lesson, I guess.
