Remember when all the environmentalists were promoting wind power? I do. No nasty hydrocarbons; simple, natural, Earth-friendly energy.
(And I'll save them some trouble: solar power has a nasty side effect, too.)

That is a problem with wind power. But here is the major problem.
Wind speed is so variable that the output varies minute by minute. Thus the grid cannot reply on a wind farm for its output. Both Denmark and Germany, who made huge investments in wind power, have backup plants running all the time. In Germany, these backup plants burn up more energy than the wind farms produce.
Denmark have cancelled their plans to expand wind power and Germany just committed $1 Billion for nuclear power plant research.

Almost all of the plans of the '70's enviromentalists backfired. remember they are the ones responsible for all the SUV's you see. They did not exist prior to CAFE standards. Can we just day that left-inspired enviromentalism is a failed experiment?
